Pokémon card bundle or display: which suits you?

The wrapper crinkles, 50 cards slide onto the carpet, and right in the middle something sparkles: a holo card! That moment is exactly what card bundles and displays are for. Here you'll find out how they differ and which one suits you better.

At a glance

  • A card bundle from KingsofCards contains 50 genuine Pokémon cards from different sets, with a holo card and a toploader.
  • A display (booster box) is a sealed box full of booster packs from one expansion, usually 36, sometimes 18.
  • A German or English booster pack contains 10 cards.
  • Card bundle means: a holo card guaranteed, every card type included. Display means: excitement when you open it, the rest is down to luck.
  • At Bodinos the card bundles come in a German edition and an English edition, and the language is always in the name.

Card bundle or display: what's what?

Pokémon cards are released in expansions, i.e. sets with their own names such as "Destined Rivals" or "Astral Radiance". In shops you get them in small sealed packets: the booster packs. A German or English booster pack contains 10 random cards from that expansion, often plus a code card for the online game.

A display is the box the booster packs arrive in at the shop. It folds open and then stands on the counter as a display stand. It's also known as a "booster box". It usually holds 36 booster packs, but there are also displays with 18.

A KingsofCards card bundle is something quite different. Lots of booster packs have already been opened and the cards mixed again. You get 50 cards from different sets in a fixed mix, and a holo card is always included.

What's in a card bundle?

Every KingsofCards card bundle contains 50 genuine Pokémon cards:

  • 36 Pokémon cards
  • 7 Trainer cards
  • 7 Energy cards
  • 1 holo card (standard holo or reverse holo)
  • plus a KingsofCards toploader, a rigid sleeve for your best card

The bundles with a V card or GX card include one extra special card on top. All cards are straight from the booster pack and randomly mixed. Duplicates are rare, and if you get any, they're perfect for swapping. The cards in the photo are just an example, every bundle is a little surprise.

Holo, reverse holo, V and GX: what's that sparkle?

  • Holo: on a holo card, the Pokémon's picture shines.
  • Reverse holo: the other way round. The whole card shines except the picture. This variant has been around since 2002.
  • V card: Pokémon V arrived in 2020 with the "Sword & Shield" series. They usually have lots of HP and strong attacks. But if a V card is knocked out, your opponent gets two steps closer to winning at once.
  • GX card: Pokémon-GX come from the "Sun & Moon" series from 2017. They have a GX attack that you may use only once per game, no matter how many GX cards you have. So save it wisely!

Tip: Put your favourite card straight into the toploader. That way its corners and shine stay protected, even if it gets shown around a lot.

German or English: which language suits you?

The cards are laid out the same in both languages, only names and texts are translated. And the names can sound quite different: Charizard is called Glurak in German. The sets have their own names too: "Destined Rivals" is "Ewige Rivalen" in German, "Astral Radiance" is "Astralglanz".

For children who are just learning to read, cards in their own language are easier. Anyone swapping with fans from other countries or practising a language on the side can pick the other edition. At Bodinos you'll find:

An English edition card bundle: same cards, English text. Here too, the photo is just an example.

Note: Check the language edition when you order, so nobody unwraps German cards instead of English ones on their birthday. For our card bundles it's in the name, for the displays we've added it in brackets in this guide.

Which displays are available at Bodinos?

With a display, you choose one expansion. Here's what we have:

  • Ewige Rivalen (Destined Rivals) (German edition, 18 booster packs): the tenth main expansion of the "Scarlet & Violet" series, released on 30 May 2025. It's all about Trainers and their Pokémon, including Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex and Cynthia's Garchomp ex.
  • Flammende Finsternis (Darkness Ablaze) (German edition, 36 booster packs): also "Sword & Shield", featuring Charizard VMAX among others.

How did it all begin?

The Pokémon Trading Card Game was released in Japan in October 1996. In Germany it started in December 1999 with the Base Set and its 102 cards. Quite a lot has piled up since then:

85bn

Pokémon cards had been printed worldwide by March 2026, around 10 billion of them in the last financial year alone.

Which bundle suits you?

  • For beginners and children: the card bundle with holo card. Every card type is included, perfect for getting to know the game and for swapping.
  • For a bit more wow: the card bundle with V card or GX card.
  • For the unboxing feeling: a display, one booster pack after another.
  • As a gift: a card bundle is ready to go straight away. If you order several bundles with a holo card, we add small extras, such as sleeves or holo cards.
